Great reads from April 2019
Hola!
Time for a few links to things I enjoyed greatly in April.
Nine thoughts on Leadership by someone who doesn’t consider themselves a Leader.
Chris Spalton wrote a tweet that started a fire. His open, honest view on leadership and responsibilities caught a lot of attention. He wrote in more detail and I'm so glad he did. Truly hope that we'll be speaking to Chris on the podcast in the future.

How to: use your walls to share your work inside your organisation and to the wider world
The incredibly talented Kirsty Joan Sinclair of FutureGov writes about how they introduce walk-the-wall as an activity for show and tells and exposing more people to your work. It's an excellent methodology that I adopted during my brief stint with the team and have used on every project since. Highly recommend this read.

On Moving On
Julia Hayward wrote a summary of what she has reflected on having left Redgate and her first role as a team manager. It's great to read about that realisation you cannot measure your effectiveness by code shipped when your focus is on people.

Making Bulb accessible
UK energy company Bulb have been making a lot of waves over the last 18 months. This post shows how even the new-wave businesses can get things wrong - but how they also work twice as hard to make it right. This is a great story of how those crappy data visualisations cause problems for accessibility and how to rectify that.

15+ Genius Ideas That Can Instantly Improve People's Life
Usually I don't fall for list posts (he says writing an email that is literally a list of links). This gem however is worth your time. Highlights for me were the walk don't run floor and the Singapore traffic light system that allows you to tap-in to slow the timer for crossing.
